Supporting Women’s Health Through Exercise Physiology

Exercise Physiologists are university-qualified allied health professionals who prescribe exercise interventions to treat and manage chronic health conditions and injuries. At The Body Refinery, our Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) have completed additional women’s health training, giving them the knowledge and clinical experience to treat a range of women’s health concerns.

When to consider coming to see one of our women’s health Exercise Physiologists:

  • Experience leaking of urine when coughing, sneezing or laughing.
  • Pregnant and wanting to engage in safe and tailored exercise.
  • Postnatal and wanting to re-engage in exercise to gradually rebuild strength and confidence with movement.
  • Living with a chronic condition such as PCOS or Endometriosis.
  • Navigating the Menopausal Transition.
  • Have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis or Osteopenia and want to use exercise to support your bone health.

What to expect at your first appointment:

At your first appointment, our Women’s Health Exercise Physiologists will take a thorough medical history, take you through some movement assessments, and support you in setting some goals.  From here, they will likely get you started with some home exercise and book you in for a subsequent session where they can add to your exercise program, deliver further education, and continue to monitor your progress.

After having completed some 1:1 appointments, you may decide to join one of our tailored classes, run by our Accredited Exercise Physiologists:

  • Mums and Bubs Mat Pilates: for new mums wanting to re-engage in exercise in a safe and supported environment.
  • Pregnancy Reformer Pilates: for pregnant women wanting to safely engage in movement and maintain strength and mobility.
  • ONERO® : an evidence-based exercise programme designed specifically to prevent osteoporotic fracture by stimulating bone development and preventing falls in at-risk individuals.
