Complete your Pilates training with The Body Refinery Education's professional Pilates courses

As a qualified Health Professional who already prescribes exercise as treatment (e.g. Physiotherapist, Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Osteopath or Chiropractor), you may not want to complete a certification.

The Body Refinery Education has tailored its Pilates Certification courses into smaller equipment courses, specifically for Health Professionals who may want to build on previous training and Pilates repertoire. Perhaps you want to upskill your mat and reformer training or expand your skillset to utilise the full studio or clinic equipment (including the Wanda chair and Trapeze Table). If so, these courses may be perfect for you!

As with our Certification Courses, our Health Professional Pilates courses comprise a balance of online and in-person components. However, unlike our Mat and Reformer Certification and our Comprehensive Certification, our Health Professional Pilates courses do not require completion of all the apprentice teaching hours and self-mastery hours. The face-to-face lectures are undertaken after completion of the online component and will focus on the repertoire, cueing and programming.

Mat for Health Professionals

ESSA PDP: (in the application process for ESSA PDP)

In this course, we will take you through the repertoire of Pilates-based Mat work. The repertoire presented in this course can be used in many settings, from Pilates studios, to gyms, and health clinics. This course is suitable for students beginning their Pilates-based exercise journey in the health setting, and who are looking for a course that will provide them with a thorough understanding of the Pilates exercises (not just the superficial mechanics of the repertoire). The course has a focus on allowing Health Professionals to modify and adjust the repertoire for clients at different levels and capabilities.

The course provides Health Professionals with an opportunity to review their repertoire, cues, and modifications, and to reflect on their experience as teachers and help them draw connections between the patterns of movement that go beyond the performance of exercise. We want to teach you to recognise patterns within clients’ bodies and in the repertoire itself. The course has clear guidelines for each exercise, showing the focus and purpose, teaching tips, modifications and contraindications.

The principles are overlaid to allow teachers to understand how to progress a client through various levels, relate the exercises to each other, and to understand how these relate to other exercises on the mat and apparatus. This course is designed for health practitioners who are wanting to draw deeper connections from the movement patterns that they observe on a daily basis.

This course includes 1 day of workshops in a face-to-face setting. The online component of this course must be completed before attending the face-to-face component.
