Skye Ashton

Pilates Instructor

Skye discovered her love for Pilates almost 20 years ago. She found it helped her to improve her fitness after no longer practicing Jazz Ballet after she completed High School. After spending 20 years in the Retail Industry in various roles, she was encouraged to look into Clinical Pilates which helped her improve her posture and manage her injuries.

The significant improvements she saw in her body after starting Pilates simply fuelled her passion for the Pilates method. As she practised more Pilates her love for it grew but she also developed a deep desire to spread the word about the effectiveness of the method. This led Skye to complete a Certificate in Mathwork with Polestar Pilates and she is continuing to study the Diploma in Studio and Rehabilitation Method in 2017.

What she enjoys most about teaching is being able to watch her clients on the journey of improving their posture, strength and functional movements, ultimately improving their health and wellbeing. You will see Skye teaching Reformer Pilates at The Body Refinery, book into one of her classes and your body will thank you for it!

Dorine Von Briel

Pilates Instructor

“Teaching Pilates is like ‘sharing happiness’ because I love to share the joy of practising Pilates with other people.” Since discovering Pilates, Dorine's goal has been to empower her clients so that they feel radiant and grounded.

Her professional life started in Paris where she worked as an international event manager. She enjoyed the opportunity to travel the world and meet people from other countries. Dorine moved first to Hong Kong and later, to Australia.

Dorine's Pilates journey started ten years ago, in Paris, and she was hookedimmediately. Dorine's Pilates course was the highlight of her day though she was yet to realise the immense impact that Pilates would have on her body, mind and soul. Years later, Dorine started to experience lower back pain. In a quest for a cure, she turned to Pilates which healed her. This powerful experience made her realise that she wanted to change her career path in order to help others the same way.

Dorine strongly believes that everyone should place their body and health at the centre of their concerns. She completed Polestar Certificate 4 and the Polestar Studio Diploma because of their focus on physical therapy and the mind-body energy system. These Pilates studies built her foundation for teaching others how they can safely improve their physical performance and even heal injuries. Since Dorine started her Pilates journey, she has taught in Brisbane, Paris and Berlin.
